John Taft is CEO of RBC Wealth Management – U.S., the eighth largest full-service retail brokerage firm in the U.S., with nearly 2,000 financial advisors in 41 states and over $281 billion in assets under administration. Taft has worked in the financial services industry for more than three decades and has been active in the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the leading securities industry trade group in the U.S. He served as chairman-elect in 2010 and chairman in 2011. As a representative of SIFMA, Taft advocated for responsible financial reform and testified before Congress in support of a federal fiduciary standard of care. An industry thought leader, Taft frequently speaks at government and industry events and is widely quoted in the media. He is the author of A Force for Good: How Enlightened Finance Can Restore Faith in Capitalism, a book that contains a collection of essays from 20 respected industry leaders discussing how to harness the immense power of our financial systems to be a force for good in society, and of Stewardship: Lessons Learned from the Lost Culture of Wall Street, a book that explores the importance of stewardship as a core principle—for Mr. Taft personally; for the financial services industry; for the global financial system; and for society at large. As a member of the board of directors and as a volunteer, Taft has served a wide range of not-for-profit and public service organizations.
