John Morrison Pigott is CEO of Toronto-based Club Coffee. Founded in 1906, Club Coffee is the largest roaster, contract manufacturer and distributor of packaged coffees that Canadians buy from grocery stores through partnerships with Canada’s largest coffee retailers. Club Coffee is also a leading innovator in the rapidly expanding single-serve coffee, tea and hot beverages markets across the United States and Canada as well as the long-term partner of choice for major national retail and food service customers.

John is also President and CEO of Morrison Lamothe Inc., an independent Canadian food & beverage processor that acquired a majority interest in Club Coffee in 2007. The strengths of both companies in innovating through new product development and adapting to changing markets have made them industry sector leaders.

John started at Morrison Lamothe as a student in 1971 and worked summers through 1979. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, he worked for Xerox Canada from 1980 to 1986. Returning to Morrison Lamothe, John was appointed Vice President in July 1986 and appointed President and CEO in June 1989.

He has been active for almost 30 years in private company and industry boards, task forces, and associations, including:

• Canadian Association of Family Business
• Young Presidents Organization
• Director of Food and Consumer Products of Canada and its predecessor GPMC
• Past Chairman of the Further Poultry Processors of Canada; Past Member of the University of Ottawa, Advisory Board, Faculty of Administration

His favorite diversions are downhill skiing in winter and road biking in summer. He is proud to be born and raised in Ottawa, and still resides in the same neighborhood his family has lived in since 1885.

John is married to Elizabeth Thackray and has two daughters, Jane and Anne, and a son, William.
