Scott Clements has served in the position of President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority since January, 2010. In this challenge he has the task of implementing the bold vision of the Authority to meet the very strong growth requirements for aviation facilities and services and to become the Premier Regional Airport in Canada

Scott was semi-retired after 10 years as CEO of the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority and has formed a personal services company called Leadership Works Canada. As on 1 January 2007, Scott had taken on the position of President and CEO of Aviation Alberta for a two year period. He also does consulting work in the Transportation and Aerospace sectors.

Mr. Clements was born in Ottawa, raised in Scarborough, and in 1963 earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the Royal Military College of Canada. In 1981, he received a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Auburn at Montgomery, Alabama. In 2004 was bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Royal Roads University in recognition of his dedication to the education and training of leaders over the span of his military and business careers. Recently he was named by Alberta Venture Magazine as one of the 2014 list of top 50 “influencers” in Alberta.

Mr. Clements has had a long and distinguished career in the Canadian Air Force. An experienced fighter pilot, he served in progressively challenging positions, including command at every operational level: Flight, Squadron, Wing, Group, and finally, in the rank of Lieutenant General, as Commander of Canada’s Air Force from 1993 to 1995. Mr. Clements further served for seven years as Honorary Colonel of the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment at Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake.

He is an active fitness buff with particular interest in triathlon, skiing and golf. He completed his first Ironman Race in Calgary in August, 2009. Scott is married to Karen Clements, and has two children, Michelle, a dental hygienist in Calgary, and Douglas, a pilot with WestJet. Scott is the proud grandfather of four - Nicole, Anna, James and Ryan.
