Spectra Energy

Greg Ebel is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Spectra Energy. He is also chairman, president and chief executive officer of Spectra Energy Partners, the company’s publicly traded master limited partnership.

Ebel also serves on the board of directors for DCP Midstream, a joint venture between Spectra Energy and Phillips 66 and a leader in natural gas gathering and processing and the production and marketing of natural gas liquids.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2009, Ebel was Spectra Energy’s chief financial officer. He has also served as president of Union Gas, Spectra Energy’s major Canadian natural gas utility company.
Ebel served as vice president of investor and shareholder relations and as managing director of mergers and acquisitions for Duke Energy. Prior to his Duke Energy roles, Ebel served as vice president of strategic development for Westcoast Energy.

Earlier in his career, Ebel was advisor to the executive director of the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C., with oversight responsibility for investment proposals of the International Finance Corporation, the private sector investment arm of World Bank. He also worked for the government of Canada, holding positions as chief of staff to the minister of finance and deputy prime minister of Canada, and as senior advisor on privatization.

Ebel serves on the board of directors of The Mosaic Company. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, an oil and natural gas advisory committee to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, and former chair of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University, Toronto, Ontario, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School
