Candidate for the Leadership
Ontario Liberal Party
Deemed a “relentless pursuer” of new investment and high-value jobs for all Ontarians, Sandra Pupatello has over a decade and a half of experience in building a strong Ontario. With a career in the Ontario legislature that dates back to 1995, and appointed to cabinet positions since 2003, she has been uncompromising in her fight for this province to thrive.
As the next premier of Ontario, Sandra’s number one priority is jobs in order to get our province firing on all cylinders. Bringing a greater number of jobs and investment to our province would see every sector flourish and allow the Liberal government to provide greater levels of investment in our communities, healthcare and education.
First appointed as Minister of Social and Community Services, Sandra had the grassroots opportunity to help needy and vulnerable people in our province and understand their needs from the ground up. As Minister of Education, she worked closely with teachers to bring greater investments into education and reduce class sizes to better help our students succeed which led to Ontario having one of the top rated education systems in the world according to the OECD. As Minister of Economic Development and Trade, even at the height of our recession, Ontario attracted an unprecedented amount of
foreign direct investment into Ontario at a level higher than any other district in North America three years in a row.
Most recently, Sandra joined Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Toronto as the Director of Business Development and Global Markets overseeing international investment in Canada, particularly from China, India, Brazil and the Middle East; Canadian outbound investment globally; and infrastructure investment and public-private partnerships.
She was also appointed by the federal government as a member of a review panel for the Space and Aerospace Sector for Canada.
Sandra has received many awards and recognition including:
•Honourary Doctorate of Laws, University of Windsor
•CAMM and CTMA Award
•Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Advocacy and Leadership Award
•Athena Award for Inspiring Women in Business Leadership
•Windsor Woman of the Year
•Honorary Rotary Club of Windsor Member, and Paul Harris Fellow
•University of Windsor’s Charlie Clark Award for Outstanding Service
•Italian of the Year for Windsor-Essex County
Sandra truly believes if we have good jobs here in Ontario, we as a government can invest in all our ministries and communities big or small, urban or rural, north or south, east or west.
Today, Sandra Pupatello is picking up this challenge, encouraging all sides of the house to work together and creating an Ontario we
can all be proud of.
