Frédéric Kaplan has graduated in engineering / naval technology. He carried out a first career at the French Ministry of Defence, specializing in international affairs. He worked with several Gulf states (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain…). He was posted in Washington DC for 4 years, then was assigned to the Franco-German cooperation team.After a stint at the renowned « Ecole Nationale d’Administration », he joined the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 1997. He held several postings involving international business, first working with the Maghreb countries, then abroad in Lebanon from 1999 to 2002 and Sweden from 2002 to 2006. Upon his return to France, he was promoted Deputy Director General of Ubifrance, the French agency for exports development, where he stayed from 2006 to 2008. He was then posted back to Beirut from 2008 to 2011, as chief of the French Economic Department for the Near East where he covered Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, the Palestinian Territories and Israel as a team leader. Frédéric KAPLAN arrived in Canada in September 2011 and is currently Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the French Embassy in Ottawa. His posting in Canada involves traveling in every province in Canada to promote Economic and Trade relations between Canada and France.
