Parliamentary Secretary to the Minster of Health & Sport
Government of Canada
As someone who grew up in Halton, Adam learned early on that we have no shortage of community leaders, and this is what he aspires to be. Whether it be throughout his athletic career, or as the Member of Parliament for Milton, he has always strived to listen and learn from his neighbours. Adam represented Canada at four Summer Olympic Games, winning one gold, two silvers and a bronze. One of the proudest moments of his life was being the flag bearer in Athens and Beijing. Adam is a first generation Canadian, who grew up at Chautauqua Co-op in North Oakville with his younger brother and single mom. Growing up in community housing taught him the importance of a strong compassionate community that works together.
He joined the Burloak Canoe Club as a teenager and found he had a talent. Adam’s athletic career allowed him opportunities to volunteer for organizations like Right To Play, WaterAID, Special Olympics, Parkinson’s Canada, and the David Suzuki Foundation.
He has served as Chair of the Canadian Olympic Athletes’ Commission, and was a member of the Federal Government’s working group for Gender Inclusion and Gender Based Violence in Sport. You might also sometimes find him giving a talk to students at local schools in Milton, where he lives with his Egyptian street dog, Cairo. Adam is always honoured that his neighbours in Milton have chosen him to be their voice in Ottawa, and is thankful for the people who have placed their trust and confidence in him.
