CEO
MOCANNA / MINISTRY
Shauna Levy is a Canadian cultural visionary, who has been at the forefront of Canada’s design community and industry for more than 20 years, helping establish Toronto as an internationally recognized hub for design excellence, innovation and creativity.
Levy has now taken her community – and her brand-building know-how, relentless energy and passion - to the cannabis industry as the CEO of MoCanna, a cultural, educational, experiential and retail platform. The platform’s first major project MINISTRY has a mission to shift perceptions about cannabis and its culture, and to become the global epicentre and cultural authority for all things cannabis. The first MINISTRY location will open in Toronto in late 2019.
Prior to this, Levy was President and CEO of celebrated arts and design hub Design Exchange (DX) for seven years. There, she established DX as the premier design destination in Canada, securing travelling exhibits from prestigious cultural institutions from around the world such as Christian Louboutin’s 20th anniversary exhibit, Stephan Sagmeister’s Happy Show as well as working with Pharrell Williams as Guest Curator of This Is Not a Toy. Educational programs were also offered to the young and old, celebrating both Canadian and international design talent.
She is also the founder of EDIT | Expo for Design, Innovation and Technology in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2017. The festival showcased how good design can make the world a better place, and featured guests like Bruce Mau, David Suzuki, Richard Florida and Daan Roosegaarde.
In 1997, she co-founded the internationally-acclaimed Interior Design Show (IDS), North America’s largest contemporary design fair, helping establish Toronto as an international design destination.
After having lived in Paris, and ‘s-hertogenbosh (The Netherlands), she has reclaimed her Toronto roots with her partner and daughter.
