As President of Syngenta Canada, Jay Bradshaw finds himself on the leading edge of an industry that has the task of feeding our planet’s growing population. Syngenta is a world leading agri-business with more than 24,000 employees in over 90 countries dedicated to bringing plant potential to life.

Jay was born and raised in a farming community in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. He graduated from the University of Guelph in 1982 with an honours degree in Environmental Biology. He then went on to earn his M.B.A. in Saskatchewan and build a career in agriculture.

As a speaker, Jay is known for his ability to engage audiences and bring a global perspective to the discussion. With 25 years in both the boardroom and farming field, he draws on his wealth of knowledge in agriculture, business and effective leadership to deliver an insightful and practical look at one of the world’s most pressing challenges: feeding 9 billion people by 2050.

Syngenta was formed in 2000 and Jay joined the team as President of Syngenta Crop Protection Canada in 2001 at the head office in Guelph, Ontario.

Jay’s management style focuses on building leaders from within and giving each employee the power to shape the company’s reputation and future. This approach has led to some truly exceptional programs that support scientific innovation, encourage leadership and help farmers run successful businesses.

It has also earned Syngenta the designation as a Maclean’s Top 100 Employer in Canada and a Top 10 Employer in the head office region.

Jay is actively involved in the agriculture industry, having recently completed his fifth year as the Chairman for the Executive Board of Directors at CropLife Canada, and currently serving as Past Chair. CropLife is the national voice of the developers, manufacturers and distributors of plant science innovations.

Jay is also an active community hockey and soccer coach and lives north of Guelph with his wife Kathy and their two sons.
