The Honourable Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State for Finance, will deliver a keynote speech on the state of the Canadian economy and pensions.

Kevin Sorenson was first elected to the House of Commons in 2000 and re-elected in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.

In July 2013, Mr. Sorenson was appointed Minister of State (Finance).

Previously, he has been Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, Chair of the House of Commons Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan, and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.

Prior to being elected, Mr. Sorenson owned and operated his family farm and a small auction company.

Mr. Sorenson was born in Killam, Alberta, where he lives with his wife Darlene and their two children.
