Marina Strauss covers retailing for The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business. She has probed issues ranging from the strained relationship between Tim Hortons franchisees and their new corporate owner to tensions arising from how dominant retailers deal with their suppliers. Other topics she has tackled include the fallout from foreign retailers invading Canada; how digital disruption is reshaping the retail landscape; and the rise and fall (and revival efforts) of major chains such as Loblaw Cos. Ltd., Hudson's Bay Co., Target Corp. and Sears Canada Inc. She has also covered marketing, consumer products, legal affairs, federal politics, city hall and an inquiry into RCMP wrongdoing. She has been a National Newspaper Award and National Magazine Award finalist and won awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW). She got her start at The Gazette in Montreal.

Ms. Strauss holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, a French diploma from Universite Aix-Marseille (Aix-en-Provence, France) and studied law for journalists at the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Law.

Paul Morassutti is an AACI, MRICS with over 25 years of experience in the Valuation & Advisory Services business and leads CBREís Valuation & Advisory Services team in Canada. Paul has authored numerous articles and has appeared in and on BNN, Bloomberg News, the CBC, Globe & Mail, National Post among others. He is a frequent guest speaker at commercial real estate conferences and events and has developed and presented multi-day, in-house valuation training for groups such as Realpac, NAIOP, the Appraisal Institute of Canada and Brookfield Financial.

Paul is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and sits on the Advisory Board for the Schulich School of Business MBA Program in Real Estate and Infrastructure as well as the ULI Toronto Management Committee. Paul is also a director of Artscape, a not-for-profit organization where he chairs the Portfolio Development Committee.
