Avery Shenfeld

Avery Shenfeld is Managing Director and Chief Economist of CIBC World Markets Inc. He has been with CIBC since 1993 and is widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading economists for his perceptive analysis and insight on economic developments and their implications for financial markets.

Mr. Shenfeld is a nine-time winner of the Dow Jones Market Watch award for most accurate US forecaster and is highly ranked by Canadian institutional equity investors.

Mr. Shenfeld’s prior background includes experience in management consulting. He was on the economics faculty at the University of Toronto and in the summer program at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He has addressed numerous business groups and has been quoted in the media in the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe.

Mr. Shenfeld holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.

Carol Wilding, FCPA, FCA

Carol Wilding was appointed as President & CEO of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario in October 2014. In this role, Ms. Wilding leads CPA Ontario, which protects the public interest by ensuring its members meet the highest standards for integrity and expertise. CPA Ontario serves and supports its more than 85,000 members and 23,000 students in their qualification and professional development in a wide range of senior positions in public accounting, business, finance, government, not-for-profits and academe.

For seven years, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Ms. Wilding led Canada’s largest urban chamber of commerce and its 12,000 members. She has also served as President of Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, and President of Plan Canada.
Ms. Wilding holds an Honours Bachelor in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University. She became a Chartered Accountant in 1987 and was named a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario) in 2009.

Ms. Wilding currently serves as a Director on the Boards of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Foundation and the Luminato Festival, and sits on the Dean’s Council at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University.

For her leadership, Ms. Wilding was named to the Top 100™ list of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in 2010 and as one of the Top 25 Women of Influence™ in 2014. She is a recipient of the Schulich Business School’s Outstanding Public Contribution Alumni Award and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

Craig Wright

As chief economist, Craig leads a team of economists providing economic, fixed income and foreign exchange research to RBC clients. Craig is a regular contributor to a number of RBC publications and is a key player in delivering economic analysis to clients and the media through the Economic Department’s regular economic briefings.

A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Toronto, Craig was appointed Chief Economist in 2001 having joined RBC in 1994 after working at another financial institution for seven years. Craig is a participant in a number of the key RBC internal committees and is a member of the CD Howe Monetary Policy Council, Wilfrid Laurier School of Business and Economic Dean’s Advisory Council and the British Columbia Economic Forecast Council.

Craig and his wife Susan live in Toronto with their three children Emily, Bradley and Jacob.

Derek is Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist for TD Bank Group. In his role, he leads a team of economists that provides leading analysis on the Canadian and U.S. economies. Each year, he travels extensively across Canada and the U.S., speaking at more than 75 events on economic and financial developments. As a respected commentator, Derek has been quoted by many media outlets – including the London Financial Times and the Economist. He also is frequently interviewed on the radio and television.
Derek maintains a strong interest in public policy issues and has written substantive reports on health care sustainability, education, and immigration reform. He participates in a number of advisory and steering committees both internal and external to TD Bank Group.
Derek Burleton received his Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics. Derek has more than 20 years of experience as an economist in the financial industry.

Diane Kazarian is PwC Canada's first female GTA Managing Partner and a member of the Extended Leadership Team. She leads PwC’s largest Canadian market, managing more than 3,500 professionals across all key industries. With more than 30 years of experience in the professional services industry, Diane has been recognized as a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA) of Ontario and is a recipient of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 award. Douglas Porter

Douglas Porter has over 30 years of experience analyzing global economies and financial markets. As Chief Economist at BMO Financial Group, he oversees the macroeconomic and financial market forecasts and co-authors the firm’s weekly flagship publication, Focus. Mr. Porter manages the team that has won numerous awards including Best Forecaster for Canada by Focus Economics in 2016, top Canadian forecaster by Bloomberg and the prestigious Lawrence Klein award for forecast accuracy of the U.S. economy.

As a respected commentator on economic and financial trends, he is regularly quoted in the national press and often interviewed on radio and television.

Before joining BMO, Mr. Porter held the positions of Economist and Country Risk Analyst with other Canadian financial institutions, and began his career at the Bank of Canada.

Mr. Porter has been a member of C.D. Howe’s Monetary Policy Council since 2008 and serves on the Investment Management Committees of the Bank of Montreal’s Canada Pension Plan and Western’s Endowment Fund. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Toronto Financial Services Alliance.

Mr. Porter, CFA, earned a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.

Stéfane Marion

Stéfane Marion is Chief Economist and Strategist for National Bank of Canada and National Bank Financial,
a position he has held since November 2008. Mr. Marion is a sought-after speaker on economic trends and
their financial implications and is ranked among the leading economists in Canada according to Brendan
Wood International.

National Bank Financial's Economics and Strategy team is regularly ranked among the top Canadian
forecasters and has won recognition for the accuracy of its projections.

In 2012, the C.D. Howe Institute appointed Mr. Marion to its Monetary Policy Council and to the newly
established Business Cycle Council. He also sits on National Bank Pension Committee.

Mr. Marion joined NBF’s Economics Group in 1999. Previously, Mr. Marion worked for several years in the
federal departments of Finance and Industry in Ottawa, where, in addition to economic analysis and
forecasting, he also worked on microeconomic policy impact studies. In particular, he participated in the
development of forecasting models and the analysis of the FTA and NAFTA free-trade agreements with the
United States and Mexico.

Mr. Marion holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Université de Montréal.
