Rhiannon is the President, CEO, and Owner of The Economic Club of Canada, Founder of The Jr. Economic Club of Canada and CEO & Co-Founder of The Global Institute for Conscious Economics (GICE). Rhiannon is redefining what it means to be a corporate leader in this country. She is passionate about highlighting the most important issues our nation is grappling with—from Truth & Reconciliation to racism and exclusion on Bay Street, Rhiannon is challenging corporate Canada to see its role in creating a more prosperous and equal future for everyone. Rhiannon has hosted countless thought leaders and changemakers at The Economic Club of Canada through the years including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Former First Lady Michelle Obama, and human rights advocate Amal Clooney. A go-to for Bay Street, tech, healthcare, domestic, and international political leaders, The Economic Club is a 21st-century public policy platform where the leaders of today and tomorrow connect.

After graduating from Ryerson University, Rhiannon joined The Economic Club of Canada in 2008 and became CEO, President, and Owner in 2011 at just 26 years old. Rhiannon has been acknowledged as one of the most accomplished influencers in Canada. She has been named one of Canada’s Change Agents by Canadian Business Magazine, one of WXN Canada’s TOP 100 Most Powerful Women in Business three times and became the youngest ever WXN “Hall of Fame” award winner in the fall of 2018.

Rhiannon has been a tireless advocate for youth, developing seven national programs under the Jr. Economic Club banner that have impacted over 50,000 young Canadians and provided over $150,000 in academic scholarships. Rhiannon may mingle and do business with the C-suite crowd, but she definitely shouldn’t be confused with the establishment. Inspired by her own lived experience with child poverty as the daughter of a single mother, Rhiannon has become a warrior for women and youth facing barriers.

Rhiannon is the proud mother of two young boys, Luke and Bennett, and enjoys exploring Toronto with them in her spare time.

Darius Sookram

Darius Sookram

President

Darius Sookram is President of the Economic Club of Canada. He is an award-winning and goal-oriented leader who cares deeply about social justice and Canadian innovation while always seeking to inspire youth along the way. Most notably, Darius received an Honorary Certificate in Governance Essentials from Ryerson University and recognition from the City of Markham for his civic engagement. As President of The EC he works with his team to give a platform to business leaders, government officials, critical thinkers, and marginalized groups. He is driven by a quest for inclusion and is fueled by a love for people.

Darius previously held significant roles in federal, provincial and municipal governments. Those opportunities enabled him to express his passion for people as he placed an emphasis on outcomes that benefit communities. Most notably, he served the City of Markham as Chair of the Race Relations Committee where diversity and inclusion are placed at the forefront of community engagement.

Darius held several post-secondary leadership roles overseeing strategic planning, facility management and stakeholder engagement. As alumnus and former Board of Governors member of Ryerson University, Darius also served as the special assistant for government relations and community engagement reporting to the VP for government relations. In this role he focused on building relationships and partnerships to support city building.

He is a proud graduate of the political science program and the masters in public policy and administration program at Ryerson University. In his personal time Darius enjoys traveling, witty humour, basketball, soca music, and spending time with family and friends.

Morgan Stahl

VP, Business Development & Operations

Morgan Stahl joined The Economic Club of Canada in early 2019 and currently serves as Director of Operations. In her role at The EC, Morgan oversees event execution and operations, while leading initiatives to bolster the organization’s lineup of dynamic and engaging speakers.

Morgan brings a diverse skill set in government relations to the club. Before joining The EC, Morgan worked for the provincial government in a number of different portfolios, advising Ministers primarily in operations, logistics, and stakeholder relations. Morgan has a keen interest in addressing barriers to women's full economic participation, which was the focus of her research while a student at the University of Windsor. Morgan is passionate about student entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and all things pop-culture.

Julia Metelitsa

Event Coordinator & Administrative Assistant

Julia Metelitsa is an Event Coordinator and Administrative Assistant at the Economic Club of Canada. Her role involves the planning, organization and execution of various EC events. Julia joined the EC as an intern in early January 2019 and transitioned into full-time event coordinator upon graduating from the Special Event Management Program at George Brown College with an award in Leadership Excellence. She is looking forward to creating long-lasting relationships with guests and clients, while providing them with memorable experiences. When not working, Julia volunteers as a counsellor in a Ukrainian scouting organization, and enjoys travel, cooking and dancing.
