Simon Roberts was appointed to his current position as Vice-President and General Manager for Turboprops Business Unit and Toronto Operations in March, 2009.
Mr. Roberts oversees the Toronto Operations team in all functions related to the Q400 aircraft including production, quality, cost and delivery of the aircraft product.
Joining Bombardier in September 2007 as Vice President, Mr. Roberts has led the Quality and Performance Management teams, as well as the Transformation of Commercial Aircraft Operations team where in each position, he implemented change management based on lean manufacturing and strategy deployment. This mandate successfully reached all product lines at Commercial Aircraft including Q-Series turboprop, Global business jet and CRJ Series aircraft as well as component assembly of the Learjet aircraft wing.
Mr. Roberts began his career in aviation 23 years ago as an engineering apprentice with Airbus UK, where he held positions of increasing authority including being appointed as Head of Operations, A320 Wing Assembly. Before joining Bombardier, Mr. Roberts was appointed Vice-President, Hawker Program in 2005 where he was fully responsible for the Hawker Business as a complete entity.
A graduate of NEWI Deeside and Wrexham Colleges in the United Kingdom, he is certified in HNC Avionic & Electrical Engineering (1989); Industrial Operations Management (1990); and holds a Diploma in Industrial Operations Management (1991).
A native of the United Kingdom, Mr. Roberts resides in Newmarket, Ontario with his wife and two children.
