• Canada is hosting major international events in 2010, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the G-8 and G-20 Summits. Canada will also host the North American Leaders’ Summit. These events will provide an opportunity for Canada to highlight Canadian values such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. In March 2010, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawrence Cannon, will host the G8 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Gatineau, which precedes the G8 Leaders Summit that will take place in June in Muskoka.
